What is the difference between a POS and a stand-alone payment terminal?
A POS terminal communicates with the EHR system regarding the amount available for payment, so that the amount is displayed in the payment terminal. After the patient has selected the payment method, the EHR system posts the amount and payment method used in the accounts receivable ledger. In a stand-alone, this does not happen, but the amount must be entered by hand and reporting must be done by hand against the journal system.
